Frank Muffin Kicks Off the REC Room LIVE Music Series

REC Room LIVE presents Frank Muffin with Moore-Benge and THIS

Frank Muffin is excited to help launch the inaugural concert of the REC Room Live music series—a monthly showcase dedicated to original music from local and regional talent. Hosted at TAF (The Arts Federation) by REC Room Recording studio, this series is more than just a concert: it’s a community-driven effort to give artists the stage they deserve and music lovers a reason to gather and celebrate creativity.

About REC Room LIVE

REC Room Recording, a non-profit studio born out of the SAMI Songwriter organization, has always been about more than just recording songs. Their journey has included providing space, gear, and mentorship to artists at any level. With the launch of monthly live shows in 2026, REC Room is focusing on artists who perform predominantly original music.

The area is bursting with talented bands and solo artists, but there are few venues dedicated to original music—especially for those who aren’t yet well-established. While many bars are an excellent venue for open mics and cover/party bands, this can leave emerging artists with limited options. By opening its doors, REC Room is creating a larger stage setting that welcomes everyone from seasoned musicians to up-and-coming acts from the younger, underground Purdue music scene and other area bands. Each show is focused on performances of original material, giving artists the freedom to express their sound.

This series also gives young interns at REC Room hands-on experience with all aspects of producing live shows—from mixing and lighting to recording and event planning. This opportunity helps sharpen their skills while supporting the music scene. Each show will be live audio and video recorded, providing artists with an invaluable content resource to share with their followers and spread to new fans.

Let’s Be Frank

Frank Muffin has established itself as a cornerstone of the Lafayette music scene with a reputation for genre-diverse original music and community engagement. The band’s notable projects include their ambitious “Year of the Muffin” albums, in which they released a new song each week for an entire year, demonstrating creative endurance and commitment to their craft. Frank Muffin has also collaborated with local organizations and participated in benefit album tribute concerts, further cementing their role as advocates for the arts community. Their musical versatility, blending elements of indie rock, alternative, and power pop, has earned them recognition near and far.

In recent years, most of Frank Muffin’s live performances have followed the Rockin The Suburbs podcast (www.suburbspod.com) annual festival “Suburbs Fest” across the Midwest—including Illinois, Michigan, and Kentucky—and out to the East Coast in New York, Virginia, and Maryland. Being part of this new hometown concert series with REC Room is a welcome opportunity for Indiana supporters to catch the band’s latest lineup and songs.

Frank Muffin is looking forward to connecting with local fans to kick off this year. Stay tuned for more about our appearance at Suburbs Fest 2026 in Knoxville, TN at the end of July.
