Returning after the Covid-19 hiatus of 2020, Frank Muffin is back with another annual full-album tribute performance: The Band’s The Last Waltz.
Originally a live concert event on Thanksgiving Day 1976, The Last Waltz was filmed by Martin Scorsese and released as a documentary film in 1978, as well as a 3-LP album. The concert featured many well-known guests and friends of The Band, including Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Muddy Waters, Neil Diamond, Ronnie Hawkins, Dr. John, Bob Dylan and more.
Frank Muffin’s The Last Waltz will also feature many talented guest musicians to give this tribute the care and attention it so deserves. It is our goal to keep the spirit of collaboration, diversity, and talent to capture The Band’s music and share it with the Lafayette community and worldwide through the Mandolin concert-streaming network. This year’s concert will be at Carnahan Hall on Saturday, November 27. As a slight change of format, Frank Muffin has selected songs from the album, the film, and the concert experience to bring some band and fan favorites to life. As an add-on special, attendees can also hang out with Frank Muffin and some of our guest musicians to watch the original The Last Waltz movie on Sunday, November 28 also at Carnahan Hall.
One of the most important elements of Frank Muffin’s annual tribute shows is the community partnership we form with a local non-for-profit agency. This year’s beneficiary is The Arc of Tippecanoe County. The Arc is committed to all individuals with developmental disabilities realizing their goals of learning, living, working, and playing in their community.

Founded in 1953 by a group of local parents and educators, The Arc serves as a resource to self-advocates and family members for a better life and to the community to promote positive attitudes to disabilities.

2017: Frank Muffin celebrated the 50thAnniversary of the Beatles album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band by performing entire the album with full instrumentation. As their first full-album charity benefit, Frank Muffin donated all proceeds from that event to Therapeion Therapeutic Riding Center in Brookston, enabling them to purchase a new horse (now named Frank Muffin!) for their equine assisted programs for persons with disabilities, children who have been victims of violence or abuse, veterans with disabilities, and for youth learning life skills.
2018: Frank Muffin performed a live tribute to Pink Floyd’s The Wall, featuring 19 musicians. This iconic performance solidified Frank Muffin’s desire to continue these concerts on an annual basis. This show featured the construction of a large wall constructed on the sides of the stage to facilitate video projection that would supplement the story of the performance. All proceeds and donations were given to the YWCA’s Domestic Violence Intervention and Prevention Program to support their survivors of domestic violence through case advocacy, support groups, legal advocacy and emergency shelter.
2019: Frank Muffin and a few guest musicians performed Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours cover-to-cover. This iconic album will highlight the vocal abilities of Frank Muffin, and will include a smaller compliment of additional musicians to cover all the instrumentation. This year, Frank Muffin is partnering with Henry House: a universally accessible, adaptable residence, where individuals with physical disabilities and able-bodied individuals live together to experience the dignity and self-respect that comes from contributing to their community. It is an intentionally inclusive environment that allows individuals to live at the highest level of independence possible, while fostering a sense of community by utilizing the model of cooperative housing.
